NeoCon 2026: Designing Spaces That Work Harder for People
News / June 17, 2026
NeoCon has always been more than a trade show. It is where the commercial design industry gathers to exchange ideas, challenge assumptions, and explore what comes next.
This year's event reinforced a clear shift in the way spaces are being designed. Across workplaces, educational environments, hospitality settings, and public spaces, the focus continues to move toward creating environments that are more adaptable, more human-centered, and more integrated than ever before.
For us at Axis Lighting, NeoCon 2026 was an opportunity to engage with architects, designers, and specifiers who are shaping the future of the built environment, and to be part of important conversations about how lighting contributes to that evolution.
A Milestone Year for Lighting at NeoCon
This year also marked the debut of Illuminate at NeoCon, a dedicated lighting platform that further elevated the role of lighting within the commercial interior conversation. The introduction of expanded lighting categories within the Best of NeoCon Awards reflected the industry's growing recognition that lighting is fundamental to both human experience and architectural expression.
For the lighting community, it was an encouraging sign that the industry continues to gain visibility and influence within the broader design landscape.
An Immersive Focus on Acoustics
At this year's show, our booth explored the growing relationship between lighting and acoustics.
As workplaces, educational environments, and public spaces continue to evolve, designers are increasingly challenged to create environments that support collaboration while maintaining comfort and focus. Acoustics have become a critical part of that conversation, influencing how spaces are experienced just as much as how they look.
Rather than treating lighting and acoustics as separate design considerations, the Axis Lighting booth demonstrated how they can work together to create environments that are both functional and expressive.

Spotlight on Tacet
At the center of the exhibit was Tacet, our modular acoustic lighting system designed to reimagine the traditional ceiling grid.
Throughout the show, visitors explored how Tacet transforms a familiar architectural element into an opportunity for creativity and performance. By combining illumination, acoustic value, and design flexibility, the system generated conversations around the future of integrated ceiling solutions and the growing demand for products that serve multiple functions within a space.
What resonated most with visitors was not only the product itself, but the broader idea behind it: that ceilings can become active contributors to the architectural experience rather than simply a location for infrastructure.

Recognition That Reflects Industry Direction
NeoCon 2026 was particularly meaningful for us as Tacet received a Silver Award in the Architectural Lighting category at Best of NeoCon. Evaluated by a jury of leading architects, designers, specifiers, and facility managers, the program remains one of the commercial design industry's most respected benchmarks for innovation and excellence.
Tacet was also recognized as a 2026 HiP Awards Honoree by Interior Design magazine, further highlighting the product's contribution to the evolving conversation around lighting, acoustics, and integrated design.
These recognitions are especially meaningful because they come from communities that influence and shape the future of design every day.

Looking Forward
The conversations, ideas, and innovations showcased at NeoCon 2026 reinforced a shared commitment across the industry: creating spaces that better support the people who use them.
From adaptability and wellness to integration and long-term value, the themes that emerged throughout the show point toward a future where design is increasingly thoughtful, responsive, and human-centered.
We are grateful to everyone who visited our booth, shared insights, and contributed to the discussions that made this year's NeoCon such an inspiring event.
We left Chicago energized by what we saw and excited for what's next.
For Linears – Target Total Luminaire Lumens, calculate by multiplying the original length by your desired lumen value.
For example, if you want 800 lumens, multiply 800 × 4 (original length). Target Total Luminaire Lumens input would be 3200.
For optimal accuracy, always use a maximum length of 4ft. Anything beyond this includes only one light source.
Note: Direct/Indirect scales proportionally and cannot be adjusted separately.
